Gavin Flanagan, MA, LCMHC

My work with adolescents and young adults began in 2002 as a wilderness therapist in the Pacific Northwest. Since 2008, I've maintained a private practice, helping emerging adults navigate the psychological and emotional challenges of this transformative life stage.

For over 25 years, my work as a therapist has been guided by two convictions: that I'm called to support people who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or in emotional pain; and that connection with nature can be a vital component of healing.

I offer sessions in a yurt or around an outdoor fire, blending ecotherapy with evidence-based approaches to help you find peace, perspective, and vitality.

Clients quickly discover that I am a caring, insightful, direct, and at times humorous therapist. My training and experience in humanistic psychology naturally leads me to work collaboratively.

My approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral, existential, and gestalt therapies. I have come to learn that at its core, psychotherapy works best when it feels safe, supportive, and also real—where you can show up as yourself and feel both understood and gently challenged.

I have extensive experience helping people coping with anxiety, depression, addiction, ADHD, grief, and deep existential challenges of meaning, mortality, purpose, and connection.

I love this work. It's a privilege to support people during a stage of life marked by openness, curiosity, and readiness for change.
